"Wearing my instructor's hat"

I have always loved the books and literature associated with fly fishing. I started reading these books as a youth, and in spite of the many years that have past, I still read them today with the same zeal I had as a boy. I was so enamored by what I read I eventually managed to amass an exorbitant number of angling books. There were books covering every flat surface available in every room in the house. Many years ago in an act of self defense I announced that I was venturing into the angling books and literature business. To be perfectly honest with you, at the time, I considered it to be the most reasonable excuse I could use to rationalize to my wife why all these books were absolutely necessary. At least then I could announce, “But honey, I really need this book”.

I obviously love flyfishing and after 38 years of farming in PA. I moved here to the Catskills to be near the rivers I had long since come to love. I have also fished extensively throughout Pa. and have enjoyed many excursions to rivers across the US and Canada. In addition to operating The Flye & The Pen, I keep busy as both a flyfishing/flycasting instructor and guide. in and around the hallowed Beaverkill, the purported birthplace of American dry-fly fishing.

This is a simple family run business and that factor is instrumental in allowing us to keep our book prices at a minimum. We feel strongly about personal service and make every effort to please our reading/collecting friends. My name is Bob, my wife is Rosalie.
