Atherton, John – THE FLY AND THE FISH – 1951 1st Edition – Macmillan, NY – 195p – The author was an active member of the Angler’s Club of New York and associated and fished with the luminaries of those golden years in fly fishing history. A successful artist he draws on his long experience in fishing and painting to present his impressionistic theory of color and texture in trout flies. This book was popular when it was issued and remains very popular today which is why it is so difficult to find a copy. The material used for the dust jacket of this book did not fair well and simply disintegrated after a few years. This copy has the dust jacket, albeit a bit worn, but a whole very rare dust jacket nonetheless. – Book is fine in worn but whole dust jacket. - $150.00
