Comeau,
N. A. – LIFE AND SPORT OF THE LOWER ST. LAWRENCE –
1909 1st ed. – 440p – T. Werner Laurie, London – The
author, the eldest of twelve children, was the son of a fur trader born
at a remote post in Ungava. With an appreciable knowledge of salmon at
an early age he was made a government fishery officer and remained in
that position for more than 30 yeas. With this rich background he is well
qualified to relate stories of salmon fishing, trapping, Montagnais folklore,
hunting and fishing tales, history, animal stories and early adventures
on the fringe of the Labrador Peninsula. Includes 38 photos with great
hunting and fishing shots. – If you enjoy reading about the kind
of true wilderness we were unfortunately born too late to experience,
this is a book you will enjoy. – In blue and white cloth with gilt,
book has testy hinges but exhibits no foxing anywhere throughout the text.
For a 102 year old book – very good - $65.00
