In this book, as well as paying homage to the Bourne, he wrote chapters on Blagdon, the Test and the Kennet, and whereas he does not actually provide instructions, he has that rare quality to bring us to his side while he is fishing, and leaves to learn from watching him at work. The writing talent of Harry Plunket Greene has resulted in his being the favorite author of many angling literature enthusiasts. A truly enjoyable book to read. – Absolutely wonderful copy, no foxing, crisp and clean. - $135.00 | Click here for pictures |

| Grove, Alvin R. – THE LURE AND LORE OF TROUT FISHING – 1951 1st edition – 318p – Stackpole, Harrisburg – Arnold Gingrich was extremely knowledgeable where fly fishing literature was concerned and also authored some excellent angling books of his own. Arnold along with other critics all agreed on placing this book on the list of the best 30 fly fishing books of all time. A most valuable addition to the serious angler’s library,. it is the first book on trout fishing which contributes here in America much that the works of Skues, Halford, Ronalds, and Mosely have contributed to the famous fly-fishing literature of England. For the first time the similarity of American and English insects and their imitations is brought out in significant detail. In the chapters "Food for Fish," "Naturals and Artificials," and "Patterns and Reflections" are to be found the rudiments of all natural American fly patterns. Emphasis is placed on the natural insects of importance to the fishermen of this country, and in addition to detailed discussions where necessary, much valuable descriptive information on natural insects is summarized in nearly 20 pages of tables. – Book is fine in very rare good dust jacket with a few small chips. - $70.00 | Click here for pictures |

| Haig-Brown, Roderick – FISHERMAN’S SPRING – 1951 1st edition – 253p – Morrow, NY – From the Buffalo Evening News: “Roderick writes much as Thoreau might have written if he had solved his personal equation and dipped his pen in contentment.” I really wish I had said that, it has a nice ring to it. – This is the first of Haig-Brown’s classic season’s books. The book itself is in fine condition with crisp clear text. The rather rare dust jacket is also very good with edge wear only. Unfortunately some well meaning soul taped the front and back panels of the dust jacket to the inside flaps which does not really hurt anything but as a result the tape marks are present. – book is fine in very good dust jacket with tape marks. - $75.00 | Click here for pictures |
| Haig-Brown, Roderick – FISHERMAN’S SUMMER – 1959 1st edition – 222p – Morrow, NY – Although summer is not considered the most productive time of year for cold water fly fishing, here the author tells of his own enjoyment of fishing during this season. With the special Haig-Brown touch, included are absorbing descriptions of fishing his home river – the Campbell in British Columbia for steelhead and cutthroats. He also ranges throughout the Northwest, even as far as the Arctic Tundra where he fishes for grayling. All in all, just another excellent book by this prolific angler/author. - $90.00 | Click here for pictures |
| Haig-Brown, Roderick - FISHERMAN’S FALL – 1964 1st edition – 279p – Morrow, NY – In the author’s own words; “Of all the times of year on the Pacific watershed, the fall is the most exciting, spring the most beautiful, summer perhaps the most delightful, winter the most testing, at least physically; but fall is the time of movement.” This in the author’s opinion, is the wonder of fall fishing. After the quieter times of summer, the nights are cooler, the shadows are longer and the fish are more active. There is a touch of urgency about it all, so one had better get out and be doing. – Another Haig-Brown classic. – Book is fine in a very good plus dust jacket with slight edgewear. - $90.00 | Click here for pictures |
| Haig-Brown, Roderick - FISHERMAN’S WINTER – 1954 1st edition – 288p – Morrow, NY – This is the most difficult to find of this author’s four seasons books. Haig-Brown has been called “among the immortals in the field of writing about nature and the natural sciences.” Here in the prose which has been described as “taut and graceful as a good trout line,” the author travels to South America to fish the many rivers of Chile and Argentina. And as only Haig-Brown and a few other can do, he communicates to the reader the excitement of battling the superb rainbows and browns in rivers almost unknown to the foreigner. This is a book to be read for pleasure, for the excitement and for the observations of a great sportsman. – Book is fine in a very rare whole dust jacket edge wear and a few chips. - $90.00 | Click here for pictures |
| Haig-Brown, Roderick – SILVER (The Life Story of an Atlantic Salmon) – 1931 1st edition – 96p – Black, London – This is Haig-Brown’s first book and in this effort we learn of the life of Silver, an Atlantic salmon whose birth, growth, spawning and death are told with touching simplicity. Appearing at intervals throughout the story is the “Good Fisherman” who pursues the salmon less for sport than to forge a kinship with this noble creature of the wild. – Very scarce in this first edition and even more rare to find a copy with the dust jacket. – Book is very good in a very good dust jacket - $65.00 | Click here for pictures |
| Haig-Brown, Roderick – A RIVER NEVER SLEEPS – 1948 1st edition – 320p – Collins, London – This author is a bit like Lay’s potato chips, no one can eat just one. With Haig-Brown, if you read one of his books, you will want to read them all. This is another of his classics describing year-round angling on all types of water. Nothing pleases me more as a angling book dealer than to find these old classics so well preserved. This copy is an extremely nice copy with a whole colorful dust jacket, with just a hint of foxing to the front panel. The jacket has small chips at the top and bottom of the spine, but is otherwise a very rare whole, unclipped jacket. Book is fine with no owner’s signatures, other writing or marks of any kind. A nice collectible - $100.00 | Click here for pictures |

Hall 111, one of Corey’s closest friends. This book recounts his remembrances of Corey, of wingshooting and fly fishing expeditions with the great man. In addition to being a masterful angler, Hewitt was a very interesting individual. He literally was to the manor born, coming from a very wealthy family. He continually experimented with both flies and gear and some of his patterns are still in use today, the Neversink Skater comes to mind. The stories about Hewitt’s unique skill are difficult to believe but were witnessed by many people who owed Hewitt nothing who will attest to there veracity. With witnesses, Hewitt was sight fishing to a salmon. He made several casts with no take. Due to Hewitt’s reputation as an angler, some of the people began to quietly chuckle. Hewitt thought for a second and announced, I know what the problem is, this fish has only one eye. This made the onlookers laugh out loud. Hewitt made a cast to the other side of the salmon and the fly was taken immediately.
