| Tod, E.M. – WET-FLY FISHING (Treated Methodically) – 1918 later printing of 1903 1st edition – 243p plus index and 4p of glowing newspaper reviews - Sampson Low, Marston, London – Since fish and their habits do not change and fish respond to the same stimuli as they did a hundred or a thousand years ago, it is a shame that these older books with their sage advice on both flies and techniques are so often overlooked while being labeled as outdated. If you read J.C. Mottram’s “Fly Fishing” (Some New Arts & Mysteries) you would see he wholeheartedly agrees with this principle. Changes do indeed take place, but they are limited to what man can do with his technology as regards new materials applied to the science of rod making and the synthetic materials now being used to tie flies. The fish, thankfully remain the same At any rate here is a wonderful little collectible with much helpful info for the angler that enjoys fishing wet flies and emergers. – small neat inscription on free front end paper – otherwise vg - $45.00 | Click here for pictures |

| Younger, John – RIVER ANGLING (For Salmon and Trout, with a Memoir of the Author: Together with a Treatise on the Salmon, and a list of the Tweed Salmon Casts) – 1995 Fly Fisher’s Classic Library printing of the 1864 expanded edition of the 1840 1st. – 222p – John Younger shook the angling world when he penned this classic. The life he had led left him little time for any formal education. These were hard times as his family had struggled just to keep food on the table. As an adult, John labored as a shoemaker, not a trade conducive to acquiring writing skills. Nonetheless obviously a very intelligent man, he read extensively and began to write poetry and later angling articles and finally this highly regarded classic work. The author, who’s angling skills were legendary, eventually found his workshop had become a gathering place for serious anglers where stories were exchanged along with angling methods and techniques. How nice it would be to have been there. This was Sparse Grey Hackle’s favorite angling book and he literally begged publishers to make the book available at a sensible price as the 1st and 2nd editions as collector’s items, were very expensive. Simply put, this is a good book. – Book is almost as new. - $75.00 | Click here for pictures |

| Youngson/Hay – THE LIVES OF SALMON – 1996 1st Edition – 144p – Swan Hill, Shrewsbury – This book has been written for all those with an interest in Atlantic Salmon. The authors are two biologists who have studied the species for more than 20 years. Salmon have been studied for much longer than this by anglers, fishermen and scientists, but new issues of interest and importance arise all the time. This book is a popular scientific account of the lives of salmon, written in a straightforward style, with the sportsman and naturalist in mind. – For serious anglers, I thoroughly enjoyed this book. – Both book and jacket are very fine. - $30.00 | Click here for pictures |
